Here it is! A perpetual Senior Memo! What is this, you ask? This is a listing of scholarship information that has been sent to Mrs. Veurink, which will include links to scholarship applications, etc. I will post these often. YOU are responsible for following through if you wish. I do not run (ever) after you nor do I hunt you down for scholarships. (Mrs. Veurink does not hunt.) If you see a scholarship and want to apply, use the link, or stop in to see me and use the scholarship file. I will no longer have hard copies of this memo available. Happy hunting! Karst Memorial Scholarship (2 $300 awards) Given by the Douglas Co. Conservation District

Win $10,000 or $25,000 scholarships and a trip to Universal Orlando to compete in the national finals. Open to High School students in the USA in grades 9-12.

Eligibility: Attend higher ed in ND, SD, or southwestern or western MN, academic excellence, leadership, extra-curriculars, community service. Also, some consideration is given to financial need through income guidelines.

Requirements: Agree in writing to stay in SD and work in a critical needs area after graduation. Critical needs areas are teaching (music, special ed, foreign language, math, science), allied health (nursing, lab tech, etc) and other areas as need arises.

Eligibility: This is a speech contest. 2005 topic: "Grass--Nature's Blanket", open to students in grades 9-12.
Stop in for an entry blank, contact your local conservation district for more information. They would like to see more students participate in this contest, so go for it!!
Power of Family Scholarships (Ten $1000 plus additional bonus prizes)
Deadline: March 15 (online submission deadline)
Eligibility: Students of any age can apply, must submit one 500-word essay, plus a parent, mentor or coach must submit one essay.

Counseling:
If you are experiencing anything that is interfering with your ability to learn, please feel free to visit with me. Some common issues are test anxiety, interpersonal skills, and personal problems. I welcome visits with students, parents and others who may be concerned about the activities and atmosphere of Dakota Christian High School. All counseling is done in the light of God's Word, and is completely confidential. I am open to self-referral, teacher referrals, and parent-referrals.
